Frequently Asked Questions

What are your office hours?

Unicare is open and ready to serve you during our regular business hours Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5 PM with emergency on-call therapists available 24/7, 365 days a year. Contact us at 800 400-6333.

What types of medical equipment do you provide?

We are a full service Home Medical Equipment provider. We supply ventilators, non-invasive ventilators, oxygen, CPAP, BIPAP, nebulizers, wheelchairs, walkers, hospital beds, commodes, and a full line of tracheotomy, enteral and incontinence products. To find out if your insurance covers any particular item, give us a call and a specialist will have an answer to your needs quickly and efficiently.

Do I need a prescription from my doctor to receive services from Unicare Health Services?

It depends on the equipment needed, but in most cases, yes. This allows us to provide the exact equipment needed with proper settings, quantities, etc. It also allows us, where applicable, to bill your insurance for the services in which you are covered.

Will my insurance cover the equipment and/or supplies I get from Unicare?

In most cases, yes. At Unicare, we have trained specialists able to quickly inform you of your coverage rights. Each insurance company has its own coverage rules per specific item. For a list of the most common insurance payers accepted by Unicare, please click here. (link to insurance page).

Can you automatically send me my supplies each month?

Unicare provides a comprehensive compliance program which includes contacting every patient monthly to make sure there are no changes in needs, and then have your order expedited in a timely manner to avoid any downtime. We are unable to simply send your supplies automatically which is governed by your insurance, state and federal regulations.

My baby daughter will be going home from the hospital for the first time on a ventilator. Even though we have received training in the hospital, will Unicare be there right when she gets home to ensure everything is working properly?

Yes. We wouldn’t have it any other way. Unicare begins its relationship with you in the hospital, assessing your every need in anticipation of going home. We then assess the home environment and begin the installation of equipment and supply needs before discharge. At the time of discharge, we are there with you on your journey home and stay as long as it takes to ensure your loved one is stable and the caregivers have had all their questions answered. Follow-up is also a necessary and expected process in the coming days and weeks making sure the transition is as smooth and stress-free as possible.

My nursing company has changed and I need more training. Does Unicare provide that service even if my child has been on service for some time?

Absolutely. Unicare is here to provide training whether you have been a customer for one week or ten years. Simply call our offices and let us know when the change in patient care will occur and we are happy to coordinate the service needed.

As always, Unicare is here to help! If you have any other questions not covered here, please call our offices for a quick and easy response.
